Safe Spaces: Trauma Informed Practices

As they say, “necessity is the mother of invention.”  The Soaring Center is the first of its kind consultancy focused on helping sexual assault and harassment survivors and advocates navigate the often tumultuous waters of justice and accountability.

The Soaring Center was created as a resource for advocates who need a little assistance, or for trauma victims who either can’t find help or prefer a solo journey, we can help.

With more than three decades of advocacy, political and legal experience, we can provide support—whether it be preparing to report an assault, preparing for litigation-related events, or preparing for resolution of legal claims.

Sometimes we just need a sounding board, and other times we need an experienced helping hand.  How ever you need help, we are here for you.  Reach out.

Together we rise

our story

When Micha Star Liberty was in high school, a dear friend and her mother were raped and murdered in their home by a serial killer. Micha had never known grief like that.  She had never known violence like that.  And at the age of 17, Ms. Liberty committed to spending her life trying to lessen violence against women and children in any way she could.

That journey took several different forms. It started in volunteer work, transformed to political and public policy efforts, and then became a 20 plus year legal career representing women, children, and men in sexual assault, abuse, and harassment cases.

Along the way, Micha Star Liberty found there were scant resources and even fewer mentors in the arena to lean on—so she forged her own way and made room for herself at the table.  Sadly, not much has changed. So she adopted a “be the change you want to see” approach and began training, mentoring, and consulting with sexual assault attorneys, victims advocates, and survivors themselves to arm them with the resources they need to successfully achieve accountability and resolution.

Regardless of whether you need strategy advice, training, or a trauma-informed mediator, we are here to help.

The founder

Micha Star Liberty has been a professional trainer, integrator, and facilitator for over 20 years, working with a diverse range of clients, including attorneys, political organizations, accountancies, marketing and communications firms, public relations agencies, lobbyists, medical practices, global manufacturers, nonprofits, management consultants, and small businesses. Her expertise spans trauma-informed practices, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and leadership development, helping organizations foster accountability, improve workplace culture, and drive meaningful change.

Micha’s journey began over two decades ago when she recognized the urgent need for systemic change. She initially focused on sexual harassment prevention training and trauma-informed coaching, later expanding into DEI consulting after developing a groundbreaking diversity program for lawyers. Through her litigation work, she witnessed firsthand how corporate failures stemmed from a lack of training, accountability, and investment in employees, leading her to design comprehensive leadership training and team-building strategies that emphasize unconscious motivators, ethical leadership, and sustainable growth.

Micha holds certifications in Neuropsychology, Trauma Healing, Trauma-Informed Consulting, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, further solidifying her expertise in trauma-informed leadership and systemic change. She is a frequent lecturer and published author with a commitment to educating professionals on best practices in law, advocacy, and organizational development.

A graduate of UCLA and UC Hastings College of the Law, Micha is also the owner of a law firm where she represents trauma survivors, including victims of sexual assault, workplace discrimination, and harassment. Her legal practice informs her consulting work, where she assists sexual assault advocates, survivors, and businesses in navigating complex systems, conducting independent investigations from a workers’ rights perspective, and creating ethical, inclusive workplaces that promote justice and accountability.
