Safe Spaces: Trauma Informed Practices

As they say, “necessity is the mother of invention.”  The Soaring Center is the first of its kind consultancy focused on helping sexual assault and harassment survivors and advocates navigate the often tumultuous waters of justice and accountability.

The Soaring Center was created as a resource for advocates who need a little assistance, or for trauma victims who either can’t find help or prefer a solo journey, we can help.

With more than three decades of advocacy, political and legal experience, we can provide support—whether it be preparing to report an assault, preparing for litigation-related events, or preparing for resolution of legal claims.

Sometimes we just need a sounding board, and other times we need an experienced helping hand.  How ever you need help, we are here for you.  Reach out.

Together we rise

our story

When Micha Star Liberty was in high school, a dear friend and her mother were raped and murdered in their home by a serial killer. Micha had never known grief like that.  She had never known violence like that.  And at the age of 17, Ms. Liberty committed to spending her life trying to lessen violence against women and children in any way she could.

That journey took several different forms. It started in volunteer work, transformed to political and public policy efforts, and then became a 20 plus year legal career representing women, children, and men in sexual assault, abuse, and harassment cases.

Along the way, Micha Star Liberty found there were scant resources and even fewer mentors in the arena to lean on—so she forged her own way and made room for herself at the table.  Sadly, not much has changed. So she adopted a “be the change you want to see” approach and began training, mentoring, and consulting with sexual assault attorneys, victims advocates, and survivors themselves to arm them with the resources they need to successfully achieve accountability and resolution.

Regardless of whether you need strategy advice, training, or a trauma-informed mediator, we are here to help.

The founder

Micha Star Liberty has been a professional trainer, integrator, and facilitator for over 20 years. She has helped a wide range of clientele including: attorneys, political organizations, accountancies, marketing services agencies, communications firms, public relations firms, lobbyists, medical practices, global clothing manufacturers, nonprofits, management consultants, and various small businesses.

Micha’s journey started more than 20 years ago, when she decided she wanted to do more for her community at large. She started providing sexual harassment prevention trainings, and focusing on having a trauma-informed approach in all of her coaching/training practices. After developing a diversity program for lawyers, she began consulting and training on diversity, equity and inclusion plans.  She moved into accountability consulting and leadership training and team building after observing corporate malfeasance in her litigation practice—she knew there was a better way to achieve results, increase profits, all the while protecting and honoring workers.  She has developed strategies and trainings focused on our unconscious motivators—determining the “How” and “Why” of each client.

Micha is a frequent lecturer and published author. She is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. She owns a law firm, where she represents trauma-victims who have suffered serious injury or abuse, including sexual assault for which she has been widely recognized as a leader in legal and political communities by her peers. The firm also represents employees who have been discriminated against or harassed in the workplace. Micha also owns a consulting business where she assists sexual assault advocates and survivors as they work their way through the system in and outside of litigation.  Micha also has assisted businesses with independent investigations conducted from a workers rights perspective to find common ground when an employee’s rights have been violated.
